Student Academic Achievement Medals

In addition to entrance scholarships, the UPEI Faculty Association supports the following on an annual basis:

Undergraduate Medals

The Undergraduate Student Medals recognize exceptional achievement by third-year students. Recipients will be presented with a medal and with a $300-$500 award.

  • Gold Medal: Student with the highest standing in third year. ($500 Award)
  • Silver Medal: Student with the second-highest standing in third year. ($400 Award)
  • Bronze Medal: Student with the third-highest standing in third year. ($300 Award)

While these medals are funded by the Faculty Association, they are determined and awarded by the University.

Graduate Medals

The Graduate Student Medals recognize exceptional achievement by one student undertaking Master’s study and one student undertaking Doctoral study. Recipients will be presented with a medal and with a $500 award.

  • Master’s Medal: Current registration in the year following completion of one academic year of full-time equivalent Master’s study.
  • Doctoral Medal: Current registration as a student and the completion of at least 2 academic years of full-time doctoral study at UPEI; transfer students must have completed 2 years of full-time study following transfer into a UPEI Doctoral program.

Applications are completed by students (faculty nomination not required) and supporting materials include:

  • Two reference letters: 1) A letter from your graduate supervisor/advisor 2) A letter from another faculty member familiar with you and your work
  • Current Transcript (Graduate Program)
  • Current Resume/CV
  • Application Personal Statement (maximum 500 words typed): Details of your academic and professional accomplishments, and how you meet the award criteria. Be certain to include the impact of your UPEI graduate program activities on the UPEI or PEI communities, as well as achievements in the current graduate program. The successful recipient must model excellent communication skills.
